About Tractor Flail Mowers
A flail mower has a rotating shaft, to which flails, either hammer shape or Y shape are bolted too. As the shaft turns, the flails rotate quickly, allowing a neat even cut through any material. These flails are separated out equally across the shaft. The shaft is driven by the tractors PTO via the gearbox. Drive belts provide protection from damage if the mowers hits debris or operated incorrectly (too fast).
Why choose a Flail Mower ?
Flail mowers have a number of benefits over the traditional rotary mower or “topper”
Less length means they sit closer to the tractor, meaning less leverage on the front end of the tractor. The more weight on the front wheels, the better the steering and stability. This means safer operation on difficult or sloped ground.
A topper, is likely to only handle grass, and grass which isn’t too thick or matted. It will leave long lengths which take time to break down. A flail mower will handle all types of grass, shrub, weeds and even small saplings. The flail mower will also mulch the grass, putting it back to the ground, leaving good organic matter. Flails are also no match for Horse poo, spreading it and allowing quicker break down.
Instead of one blade like a tractor topper, flails are bolted individually which, allows them to be changed quickly and economically in the event of damage or wear.
The range of Austco Flail Mowers for sale are designed for use with compact tractors, such as Kubotas, as well as the popular older tractors used on many small holdings, such as the Ferguson TE20, Massey Ferguson 35, Massey Ferguson 135, Fordson Dexta and Major.
We are able to offer next day delivery on flail mowers which we have in stock.
